As Event Organisers based in Sydney, we’re always wanting to keep on top of the ‘highly recommended’ places to visit in the CBD. Steel Bar & Grill on Carrington Street is definitely on the hotlist.
It’s staff review time and I always like to take my event managers out of the office and to a nice restaurant in Sydney CBD for a nice lunch. We headed to Steel Bar & Grill on Carrington Street in Sydney and I have to say it was one of the best dining experiences I have had for a while.
Check out the video we put together with our favorite online photo to video program www.animoto.com We took some photos and animoto put this video together for us in 10 minutes! then read on for TFG’s review.
From the phone call booking I made: The lady on the other end was polite, pleasant and didn’t try and hurry me off the phone (due to other errands she had to do in the restaurant).
To the confirmation call: on the morning of our lunch. I received a nice courtesy call confirming our reservation followed by a ‘we look forward to welcoming you at 1.30pm’
The meet and greet: was by the familiar voice with whom i made the booking and received a confirmation call. Very professional and neatly dressed. Then we saw the amazing 1000 bottle wine wall…..and some amazing arrangements of Moet and Chandon bottles.
The impeccable service: The waitstaff were totally on the ball and very pleasant to deal with. On time. Not much waiting at all. My employee has an allergy to onion, garlic and chilli (hard one to accommodate i know) and these chefs customized our menu to suit and they did a spectacular job. I was very impressed with how the waiter balanced our hot chocolates on his wrist with ease.
Food to die for: Steel is known for it’s share plates. So many great choices. Both main meals were delicious, beautifully presented and the pavlova had to be the best one I have ever had ever.
Bathroom experience: It’s sounds weird but for the first time ever, I didn’t want to leave the toilet. Apart from the gorgeous, expensive looking tiles, each wash basin came with it’s own screen and featured The Sex and The City movie (it was up to the part where Steve and Miranda were running up to each other on the bridge). I met a lady in the bathroom and we were gobsmacked and actually hovering around savoring the experience. Weird I know but just wait till you see it with your own eyes.
Price: Very reasonable for Sydney CBD fine dining. Events Organisers will be pleased that this place will fit nicely in their budgets
Au Revoir: After our meal, the staff were nice enough to give us a tour of the entire space showing us the outdoor balcony area and private dining room. Only negative I have for the lunch is that our hot chocolate wasn’t so hot (as in temperature) but hey i can live with that. They still get five stars from us.
So, I will have no hesitation in 1)recommending this restaurant to you 2) recommending it to my clients 3) recommending it to my friends and family 4) recommending it to other event management companies and 5) returning for another awesome dining experience.
Event organisers can certainly add Steel Bar & Grill Sydney to their hot list!
